John Edward McGee Jr., (born October 19, 1969 in Glen Cove, New York), better known as John Edward, is a television personality and performer who is believed to be a psychic medium who can communicate with the dead.

The son of a policeman, Edward was raised Roman Catholic and later became non-practicing.

Paranormal study

Gary Schwartz, an author, psychologist and controversial paranormal researcher has tested Edward and published his belief that Edward's abilities are genuine. CSICOP's Ray Hyman wrote a critique of Schwartz's methodology and conclusions in a 2003 issue of the Skeptical Inquirer. Schwartz responded to the critique, leading Hyman to write a rebuttal.
